This 75-foot wooden tugboat was built in 1890 by Elmore Fish Canning in Astoria, Oregon, originally as a steam-powered passenger and freight steamer. Over its long working life, the boat served in the Yukon Gold Rush, operated as a combination fish carrier and tugboat, and participated in commercial towing operations throughout the Pacific Northwest until decommissioning in 1982. The hull is powered by a 110-horsepower Atlas Imperial diesel engine installed in 1996.
The boat's construction reflects its working heritage as a Pacific Northwest vessel, with a wooden hull measuring 75 feet in length and 18 feet in beam. After being saved from scuttling in the early 1980s, the boat was restored as a private yacht and maintained in active service through subsequent ownership.
The Elmore carries a documented history spanning more than 130 years of maritime service across multiple roles and eras. The 1996 engine repowering represents the most recent significant mechanical work on the vessel.
