Built by Elco in 1940 and designed by Irwin Chase, this 39-foot Cruisette is a wooden express cruiser powered by twin Chrysler engines totaling 250 horsepower. She embodies the craftsmanship and elegance characteristic of her era, retaining her original layout and fittings rather than undergoing the modernizations common to many vintage cruisers of her class.
Her interior accommodates six berths across a thoughtfully arranged layout. Forward is a single berth in the forepeak, followed by a vanity with leaded glass mirror and upper and lower pilot berths. An enclosed head and galley occupy the midsection, while the raised salon features two helm seats, a convertible dinette, and a settee that serves as an additional berth. Headroom throughout is generous. An aft deck provides sheltered space for relaxation.
Structurally, the boat reflects substantial care and renewal. The stem and foredeck were replaced in 1999 by Rockport Marine. Between 2008 and 2009, frames and floor timbers throughout the salon area were renewed and both engines underwent complete rebuilds. The aft section was also rebuilt during previous ownership. She cruises at 10 knots consuming roughly 5 gallons per hour, with original sea trials documenting a maximum speed of 22 knots. The boat remains mechanically sound and structurally intact, stored and maintained to high yacht standards.
