This custom floating cabin measures 42 feet long by 24 feet wide and occupies approximately 385 square feet of living space. Built in 1978 on a monolithic frame with styrofoam flotation, the structure provides a substantial platform for off-grid living on the water.
The cabin includes two sleeping areas and seven heads, offering generous facilities for a floating residence. The layout is designed around extended stays and full-time occupancy, with the interior configured to support independent living away from shore utilities.
The flotation system uses un-encapsulated styrofoam that will require replacement by 2031. The cabin is accompanied by a 12-by-24-foot dock constructed with modern plastic-encapsulated floats, providing secure docking infrastructure. Note that this floating cabin is not designed for transport and is intended as a permanent or semi-permanent installation on Norris Lake.
