This 1989 Ellis 24 Open is a center console built from hand-laid fiberglass with the solid construction Ellis is known for along Maine's coast. The semi-planing Downeast hull design combines practicality with durability, and the green painted topsides remain in excellent condition. A canvas dodger forward and open working cockpit create an uncluttered, functional layout suited to cruising, fishing, or easy days on the water.
The cockpit centers on a helm bench with storage, opposing forward bench seating beneath the dodger, and teak rod holders under the side deck. A small cuddy cabin forward provides basic shelter and storage. The boat carries Standard Horizon electronics including a depth sounder, speed and log, along with a Ritchie compass. A center console helm station keeps the arrangement clean and straightforward.
Power comes from a 2018 Volvo Penta D3-170 diesel sterndrive with approximately 150 hours of use as of June 2026. The electrical system includes two 12-volt marine batteries with switches at the helm and main panel, running lights, and a 12-volt outlet. An electric bilge pump offers both automatic and manual operation.
The boat is rigged with an anchor, docklines, fenders, boathook, and fire extinguisher. Deck hardware throughout is quality marine grade, with Herreshoff-style cleats, bow chocks, and a bow mooring post. Stringers, bulkheads, and deck supports are well-bonded and serviceable, reflecting the heavy fiberglass layup typical of Ellis construction.
