1996 Bayliner 3988 Motoryacht

This 1996 Bayliner 3988 is a 39-foot diesel motoryacht built on a modified-V fiberglass hull. Twin Cummins turbocharged inline-six engines each produce 315 horsepower, with the port engine overhauled in 2020 at 588 hours and the starboard in 2021 at 596 hours. Both received upgraded raw water pumps and air filter intakes during their overhauls. The hull design features moderate beam and shallow deadrise, with a rakish bridge, canted windows, integral swim platform with transom door, wide side decks, and a comfortable flybridge with seating for six.

The interior arranges two staterooms and two heads across a practical floorplan. The master cabin forward has an island bed; the second stateroom features a double berth positioned below an elevated dinette in the salon. The master head includes a full bathtub and shower. Large salon windows open the interior visually. All cabin lighting is LED; mattresses are memory foam. The galley houses twin side-by-side refrigerator-freezers and a three-burner electric stove. Both heads have Raritan electric toilets with new hoses installed in 2023.

Power and propulsion systems are substantial. A Westerbeke 8.0 diesel generator backs twin 150-gallon fuel tanks; freshwater capacity is 100 gallons with a 36-gallon holding tank. House batteries comprise five 100Ah LiFePO4 units charged by 600 watts of solar, a DC-DC charger, and shore power; two 2000-watt inverters serve dedicated circuits. Raymarine electronics integrate throughout: HD radar, EV-150 autopilot, charting, and fish graphing displayed on multiple Axiom screens positioned on the flybridge, main cabin, and rear cockpit. Docking cameras on the flybridge feed a color monitor. Trolling valves equip the transmissions for fishing.

Recent maintenance includes driveshaft and cutlass bearing replacement in 2025, flooring renewed in 2020, and new toilet hoses in 2023. Deck surfaces throughout—flybridge, cockpit, gunnels, and swim platform—feature Aqua Traction foam. Removable H2O davits support dinghy carrying. LED spreader lights and cameras assist docking visibility. A 25-kilogram Vulcan anchor with Mantus roller and approximately 300 feet of chain with bridle complete the ground tackle.
