The 1999 Bavaria 38 Ocean is a fiberglass cruising yacht with solid seakeeping qualities and generous interior volume. Measuring 38.55 feet in length with a 12.96-foot beam, this model is recognised for comfort at sea and reliable performance across a range of conditions. The boat is powered by a Volvo Penta MD22L diesel engine of 50 hp paired with a saildrive transmission; the saildrive joint was replaced in 2020. A three-blade fixed propeller completes the drivetrain.
The sail plan consists of a sloop rig with an anodised aluminium Selden mast, discontinuous stainless steel standing rigging, and an electric Furlex roller. Canvas includes an Elvstrom mainsail with roller, an Elvstrom 110 percent jib, and an asymmetric Zaoli spinnaker on roller. Hardware includes Harken winches, Rutgerson rail and cam systems, and a 12-volt Quick electric windlass with remote control. Navigation equipment comprises Raymarine autopilot and multi-function displays at the helm, a Raytheon RL70 chartplotter with radar, and an ASN Cobra VHF. The boat carries a 220-volt shorepower circuit with a Dolphin 12-volt charger, engine and domestic battery banks, and a hot water system.
Two cabins and one head serve the accommodation. The galley has a two-burner stainless steel cooker with oven and a top-opening refrigerator. Fresh water tanks hold 225 litres and fuel capacity is 175 litres. Teak provides the cockpit table, which folds for stowage. A bimini sun awning and companionway cover are fitted. Interior joinery and upholstery are in sound condition, and the boat remains structurally intact with a well-maintained engine room.
