The 2001 Bavaria 40 Ocean is a centre cockpit cruiser built for extended cruising. At just over 40 feet with a 13-foot beam, the design offers a proven balance of seaworthiness and livable accommodation. This example has logged 5,000 nautical miles in Mediterranean waters with a clean history and no groundings.
The boat has undergone comprehensive upgrades between 2023 and 2025. Standing rigging was renewed in 2025. The saildrive received new diaphragm and shaft seals, also in 2025. New Crusader sails—mainsail and genoa—were fitted in 2023. The bow thruster propeller and seals were replaced in 2025 with a spare included. Teak deck seams were re-caulked in 2020.
Navigation and electrical systems have been modernised. A B&G Vulcan 9 plotter with NMEA 2000 instruments was installed in 2023. An AIS Class B transceiver and VHF/AIS splitter were added in 2024. Four solar panels were mounted in 2023. Galley cooling received a new fridge evaporator and condenser in 2024. Safety equipment includes an EPIRB fitted in 2023 and a liferaft serviced to 2025. The tender is a new Honda inflatable with outboard from 2022. A full boat cover is included for shore storage.
