The 2012 Beneteau 43 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built in South Carolina and designed by Berret-Racoupeau. At 43 feet long with a 13-foot beam and 5-foot-5-inch draft, she is well-proportioned for coastal and island cruising. Power comes from a Yammer 54-horsepower diesel engine with direct drive. The boat carries fuel and water in 53-gallon and 95-gallon tanks respectively and achieves cruising speeds around 7 knots.
The interior layout includes three cabins and two heads, with accommodations for up to four adults. The forward cabin features a V-berth and ensuite head. The two aft cabins are served by a second ensuite head and a separate shower stall; one aft cabin is currently configured as a storage and workshop space. The main salon is bright and open with a forward-facing navigation station, a U-shaped seating area, and a galley equipped with refrigerator, three-burner gimbaled stove, and ample counter space and storage.
The deck and cockpit are designed for ease of handling. Dual helm stations provide excellent visibility, and a walk-through transom with sugar scoop is fitted. All sail lines lead aft to the cockpit for short-handed sailing. The mainsail furls in-mast, and the headsail furls as well. The boat features a custom stainless steel solar arch with integrated davits, a full cockpit enclosure with Isinglass panels, and a teak cockpit sole with fold-out table. Two-speed winches and one electric winch manage sail trim.
Systems and equipment reflect thoughtful maintenance over the years. The house battery bank was upgraded in 2024 with six Victron AGM Super Cycle batteries. Solar panels and a wind generator support off-grid charging, monitored by Victron controllers and a battery monitor. Navigation electronics include a Raymarine multi-display chartplotter, wind, speed, and depth instruments, and AIS. The rudder was replaced in 2023, and the propeller shaft was replaced after inspection in 2023. The windlass is newer with 3/8-inch all-chain rode. Sails and running rigging have been inspected and repaired or replaced as needed. An inverter and charger system rounds out the electrical setup.
