2017 Beavertail Skiffs Lightning

The 2017 Beavertail Lightning 20 is a 20-foot fiberglass flats skiff built to handle both open water and shallow grounds. The stepped hull design combines a Carolina flare bow for a dry ride with vacuum-infused carbon and Kevlar construction that remains quiet under pole and efficient at speed. The boat reaches 58 mph at top end and cruises at 30 mph while burning just 7 gallons per hour, powered by a single 150-horsepower Evinrude E-Tec H.O. with 375 original hours. The self-bailing hull and deep-guttered, gasketed hatches keep gear dry in rough conditions.

The layout prioritizes fishing functionality across a 360-degree platform. Wide, stable gunnels run the full perimeter, and the boat includes a 35-gallon insulated oval livewell plus two aft 26-gallon release wells that serve as 120-quart coolers. Under-gunnel rod racks with fly tubes accommodate up to 10-foot rods. Seating consists of a bench seat with backrest behind the console and a forward-facing jump seat.

Navigation and control systems include Simrad electronics with integrated Nav and Anchor lights, an Atlas Jack Plate for draft adjustment, and Lenco Trim Tabs for ride attitude control. A Minn Kota Riptide trolling motor is fitted for flats work, and a high-capacity bilge pump backs up the overall system. The boat comes on a dual-axle custom trailer.
