2018 J Boats J/97E

The 2018 J/97E is one of J Boats' performance cruising designs, built to combine headroom and family accommodations with a responsive, easily driven hull. At just under 32 feet, it represents the first J boat in over two decades at this size to balance serious sailing performance with comfort for cruising. The boat features a retractable bow sprit, masthead asymmetric spinnaker, and a low VCG keel that provides upwind stability while maintaining moderate draft and a swept-back leading edge for cruising-friendly handling.

The cockpit draws from J Boats' award-winning design, offering full-length seats with back rests, tiller steering, and an open transom. All sailing controls are positioned within reach of the helmsperson for straightforward boat management. The two-cabin layout with one head provides practical overnight accommodation and cruising capability.

This one-owner example was commissioned from new with a strong package of equipment: Ballard Sails carbon and Twaron main and headsails, an A2 asymmetrical spinnaker, Garmin electronics, autopilot, Wallas forced-air diesel heat, galley with refrigeration, water system, and performance hardware. The single Volvo Penta diesel engine provides auxiliary power. The boat has been sailed exclusively in the Pacific Northwest, primarily around Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, and presents in excellent condition.
