2023 Makaira Gen3 800
About This Yacht
The Makaira Gen3 800 is a 26-foot aluminum sportfish yacht built in New Zealand to perform in demanding ocean conditions. Its defining feature is a true Carolina flared hull combined with plate aluminum construction—a rare pairing in the aluminum boat category that delivers both a soft ride and structural strength. The design reflects Makaira's philosophy of a "redefined battleship," engineered for serious fishing and cruising.
Power comes from twin Mercury engines: a 300 hp Verado V-8 four-stroke outboard paired with a 9.9 hp kicker with remote controls at the rear helm. Navigation and communication are handled by a Garmin 8616 electronics package with radar, complemented by a Garmin VHF radio. The single-piece curved toughened glass windscreen provides both visibility and protection across the helm.
The cabin includes a galley with a 12-volt oven, fresh water system and sink, and a refrigerator. A Wallas diesel heater with defrost manages climate control. The head features an electric toilet. Below deck, a 100-liter live bait tank and in-floor fish box support serious fishing operations. Above deck, the boat is outfitted with a rear baitwell and cleaning station, gunwale rod holders, rocket launchers, a washdown system, an outside shower, and dual sunroofs. Additional equipment includes a Max Power bow thruster, vinyl roof panels with LED lighting, vinyl walk panels, and cushioned seating. An Ez Loader trailer with disc brakes is included. The hull carries a lifetime warranty with a 10-year transferable component.
