This 1939 Concordia motorsailer combines the seaworthiness of a cruising sailboat with the comfort and efficiency of a displacement powerboat. Built by Casey Boatbuilding Company in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, she features a mahogany-planked wooden hull on white oak frames, bronze fasteners throughout, and a lead ballast keel. The design, by Wilder B. Harris, proved influential enough to establish the template for the Concordia Yawl line. A John Deere 75-horsepower diesel engine with a Borg Warner reduction gear and three-blade bronze feathering propeller provides reliable propulsion.
The layout prioritizes practical cruising. A spacious wheelhouse offers protection underway, while the large cockpit provides comfortable outdoor space. Below decks, the interior features knotty pine paneling and cabinetry, with a galley positioned aft to port and an offset drop-leaf table. A single head serves the accommodations. Heating and cooking come from a Dickerson diesel stove, with hot water supplied by an engine-tied system. A top-load refrigeration unit keeps provisions fresh.
From 1994 to 1996, the boat underwent a comprehensive two-year refit at Crocker's Boatyard in Manchester, Massachusetts. The work included a new glass-over-plywood deck, new transom and rudder, rebuilt teak cockpit, and extensive frame, deck beam, and planking replacement. All systems were replaced during this period. The boat carries modern navigation electronics—Garmin GPS chartplotter with radar, Standard Horizon VHF with AIS, and Raymarine wind instruments—alongside traditional navigation tools including a Danforth compass and Weems and Plath clock and barometer.
Fuel capacity totals 70 gallons across two monel tanks, with 30 gallons of water storage and a 10-gallon blackwater tank. Rigging features laminated Sitka spruce spars, stainless steel wire with swaged ends, and bronze primary winches. A furling headsail system and Autohelm autopilot aid single-handed operation.
