ROB ROY is a 56-foot classic yawl designed by naval architect Arthur Robb and built by Herbert Woods in 1956. Her hull reflects Robb's refined approach: balanced lines with a full bow tapering to a lean stern, a low trunk cabin, and a teak doghouse. The wooden construction combines Honduras mahogany planking over Canadian rock elm frames with Monel fittings—materials chosen for durability and character. A single 65 hp Craftsman diesel engine provides auxiliary power.
The interior accommodates six to eight guests across two cabins and a traditional layout. Warm off-white paneling and teak joinery throughout create a classic atmosphere, with a saloon featuring green upholstery, multiple berths, and a galley equipped with modern conveniences. The design balances period authenticity with functional cruising comfort.
Recent work includes a new main mast installed in 2020, engine replacement in 2023, and hull restoration completed in 2025. The yacht has an established racing history, having participated in major events including Antigua Race Week and the Newport–Bermuda Race, and has crossed the Atlantic and cruised extensively in the Baltic, Aegean, and Western Mediterranean.
