This 1956 Lyman 18 Outboard is the largest outboard-powered model the builder produced. The boat received a comprehensive two-year, 450-hour restoration completed with all new systems and mechanical components.
The powerplant is a Yamaha F70 4-stroke outboard with power trim and tilt, paired with new Yamaha controls, cables, harness, and gauges. A new SeaStar steering system features a polished mahogany and stainless steel wheel. The electrical system was completely rewired with a new bilge pump, navigation lights, battery, and associated cabling.
The hull restoration included new solid mahogany decks and gunwales, along with a new double-planked three-quarter-inch Okume transom and built-in swim platform. The original bottom frames and planks were retained, refastened, and sealed before receiving three coats of copper bronze bottom paint. The topside lapstrakes were finished with five coats of Interlux Brightside topped with two coats of Carolina blue, while the mahogany decks, transom, and interior panels are protected by twelve coats of varnish.
The boat retains its original hardware, including factory lifting rings at bow and stern, and features the desirable forward-opening windshields. A single inboard berth and open cockpit layout provide comfortable day-boating and fishing capability.
