A 1959 Sparkman & Stephens custom design, this 46-foot aluminum sailing yacht was built by Jakobsen Shipyard and originally commissioned for Henry DuPont. The boat carries significant racing heritage from its early years and has been maintained continuously for over two decades. An aluminum hull construction provides durability, while the yacht retains the classic proportions and design philosophy characteristic of the era.
Recent upgrades include a carbon fiber mast installed in 2022 and new standing rod rigging from the same year. The mainsail and 135% jib, both less than 15 years old, have been evaluated by a sail loft and reported in very good condition. Additional sails are aboard in varying condition. An in-boom furler and Harken Mark IV furler support the sail plan.
Power comes from a Yanmar 4JH-TE four-cylinder diesel engine producing 50 horsepower, installed in 2011. Navigation and piloting equipment includes a Garmin chartplotter, Garmin autopilot, Garmin wind instrument, and VHF radio. Life jackets, dock lines, and miscellaneous safety gear are included.
The boat is currently stored indoors. As with any yacht of this age, full condition assessment should include a professional survey.
