The Flying Scot 19 is a fiberglass day sailor designed by Gordon K. Douglas, introduced in 1958 and still in production today. Built with substantial fiberglass construction rather than thin laminate, this boat handles well as either a one-design racer or casual day sailer. She accommodates three people for racing or one to two for leisure sailing and launches easily from any ramp, making her accessible for various skill levels and sailing styles.
The boat carries a class mainsail, class working jib, and spinnaker rig with straightforward setup. Two spinnakers are included with a pole; a third spinnaker requires repair. Additional equipment includes a Newport electric trolling motor mounted on a bracket, 12-volt battery, wind vane, swim ladder, Danforth-style anchor with 30 feet of rode and 6 feet of galvanized chain, boat fenders, gimbaled cup holders, seat cushion, and bailers. A mast support bracket facilitates raising the mast.
The boat comes with a Gator trailer featuring a tilting tongue for convenient launching and retrieval. The Flying Scot's stable design, simple rigging, and proven build quality make her suitable for both newcomers to sailing and experienced sailors seeking an affordable, dependable platform.
