1962 Berthon Classic Yacht

This 1962 Berthon Classic Yacht is a wooden sailing boat designed by C.R. Holman and built at the prestigious Berthon yards in Lymington, England. Originally commissioned by Captain Kemmis to train Royal Navy cadets, the yacht competed actively on the classic racing circuit between 1962 and 1968, participating in events including Cowes Week and the Fastnet Race alongside notable competitors. The hull measures 50.89 feet in length with a 12.50-foot beam, powered by a 75 hp Perkins diesel engine.

The boat accommodates three cabins and has six heads. The layout and design reflect the standards of classic yacht construction from the early 1960s, blending the refined lines characteristic of the period with functional deck and below-deck spaces suited to both racing and offshore cruising.

The yacht has been maintained meticulously over the past 28 years by a former racing skipper and merchant marine captain. The boat is classed BIP and remains in sound condition reflective of its careful stewardship through the decades.
