A 65-foot wooden schooner built in 1964, this classic cruising yacht underwent a comprehensive restoration from 2006 to 2016. The hull was renewed from the keel up, with a new rudder and steering system fabricated using modern high-tech materials alongside traditional bronze components. A new deck, house, cockpit, and complete interior were built during the refit, all designed to balance traditional character with contemporary standards.
The boat accommodates six berths across its interior layout, which was optimized for comfortable cruising. A single 100-horsepower Beta Marine diesel engine provides auxiliary power. The rig was changed from gaff to staysail configuration to improve ease of sail handling and offshore flexibility. Spars and rigging were upgraded, along with new sails and navigation systems.
Safety and communication equipment reflects modern ocean-cruising standards. The yacht carries marine radios, AIS, and an HF radio system capable of WeatherFAX and Packet Radio reception. The refit addressed both structural integrity and systems needed for blue-water voyaging, with recent West Coast passages confirming the work performed. The restoration maintained the vessel's traditional design while incorporating materials and methods that meet contemporary seaworthiness requirements.
