1969 Bertram Caribe

A 1969 Bertram 35 Caribe, this flybridge cruiser combines classic design with extensive mechanical modernization. The fiberglass hull retains its original gelcoat and measures 35 feet in length with a 13-foot beam. Twin Crusader 7.4L freshwater-cooled engines each producing 350 horsepower deliver a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 25 knots, with approximately 1,200 hours on the engines.

The boat has undergone substantial system upgrades over the past two decades while preserving its original character. Engine risers, elbows, and collectors were replaced in 2023. The fuel system features three custom tanks installed in 2016 with a combined capacity of 265 gallons, certified and built to marine standards. The electrical infrastructure was comprehensively upgraded with Blue Seas components, including a 30-amp shore power system, a four-battery house bank, a 2,000-watt inverter, and a three-bank charger. Engine and house electrical systems are separated.

Navigation and steering have been modernized with a new Hydrodrive two-station steering system installed in 2024, Raymarine EV1 autopilot with P70 controller, Raymarine SL-72 radar with 21-mile range, dual Garmin GPSMAP units with sounder, and Standard Horizon VHF radio. A new Lewmar sportfish 1000 windlass and Butler fiberglass pulpit were recently added.

The accommodations include 50 gallons of freshwater capacity plus a six-gallon hot water tank with electric heater and engine heat exchanger. The galley features a propane stove, side-by-side refrigerator and freezer with ice maker, and inverter-powered refrigeration. The boat is equipped for comfortable cruising with modern conveniences integrated into its traditional flybridge layout.
