This 1969 Lyman Sportsman is a 30-foot express cruiser with a wooden hull powered by twin Crusader gasoline engines producing 700 horsepower total. The boat underwent a comprehensive keel-up restoration and refit in 2008 that included refastening the hull planks with over 7,800 marine-grade fasteners, epoxy coating the structure inside and out, and installing two new Crusader engines paired with new Velvet Drive transmissions.
The single cabin accommodates overnight cruising with a full head featuring a new Vac-U-Flush system and holding tank. The galley is equipped with a Norcold refrigerator, sink with running water, blender, and a push-button bar. New mahogany decks, rails, and interior woodwork were installed throughout, along with all new upholstery and canvas.
Navigation and vessel management rely on a Simrad autopilot, Garmin chartplotter and GPS, dual electronic compasses, VHF radio with command microphone, and comprehensive instrumentation including fuel manager, rudder angle indicator, and gauges. The electrical system runs on 12-VDC and 120-VAC power with four group 24 batteries, a Xantrex inverter and charger, and multiple battery management switches. Hydraulic steering, four electric fan blowers, and automatic bilge pumps support operation.
Deck features include a bimini top, windshield, new stainless steel engine mounts, four exhaust mufflers with under-deck sound insulation, fresh water washdown, underwater lights, navigation lights, and a teak swim step. Ground tackle comprises a 25-pound anchor with 50 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode. New fuel tanks and water systems were installed as part of the restoration.
