This 1970 Halvorsen 30 is a fiberglass coastal cruiser built for comfortable cruising across inshore, coastal, and offshore waters. Designed by Trygve Halvorsen and built in Victoria, the yacht measures 30 feet in length with a 10-foot beam and draws 1.8 metres, making her well-suited to shallow anchorages and bar crossings. A fin keel with lead ballast and skeg-hung rudder provide stability and control. Power comes from a Beta 25-horsepower shaft-driven diesel with 1,590 engine hours, paired with an 80-litre fuel tank.
The cockpit is generously proportioned and extends aft with a fold-up stainless steel swim platform and marlin board. Below, the interior is bright and laid out to maximize usable space, with accommodation for four berths plus one additional. A new electric toilet was installed in 2024. The galley includes a two-burner methylated spirits stove, a portable 65-litre 12-volt refrigerator, stainless steel sink, and integrated storage for provisions and galley gear.
The sailing rig features a 2013 mast that was removed in 2017 and completely re-rigged, with spreaders reinforced, a new boom installed, and fresh blocks fitted throughout. Sails include a Dacron main with three reefs and slab reefing, a furling headsail, and a storm jib on a removable inner forestay. An electric anchor winch with dual controls and a Rocna anchor on 50 metres of chain handle ground tackle.
Electronics and systems include a Lowrance 9-inch touchscreen (2022) with integrated GPS and charts, Raymarine EV 100 autopilot (2021), VHF radio with AIS transceiver, and a GME stereo. Two solar panels with regulator (2020) support two house 12-volt batteries plus an engine crank battery. An auto and manual bilge pump provide redundancy. Navigation lights are LED. Six life jackets and covers including a rigid spray dodger, boom bag with lazy jacks, and boom awning complete the setup.
