1970 Tartan 34C

The Tartan 34C is a 1970 sailing yacht designed by Sparkman Stephens with a traditional keel centerboard configuration. This hull design balances windward performance with the ability to access shallower anchorages. The fiberglass boat measures 34 feet in length with a 10-foot beam, powered by a 27-horsepower Westerbeke diesel engine that delivers a cruising speed of 6 knots. The wide side decks and generous cockpit feature good drainage, while the companionway accommodates up to three hatch boards for offshore conditions.

Below deck, the layout centers on a well-lit and ventilated main cabin. The galley to starboard includes a 10-inch-deep sink with retractable spray hose, an original two-burner alcohol stovetop with cover, and generous dry storage; the icebox has been removed. A spacious dinette to port converts into a double berth and seats five with its drop-down bulkhead table and leaf extension. A navigation station sits forward with a chart drawer, and an 18-inch opening port provides natural light and air circulation.

The sleeping accommodations include a quarter berth to port aft, a cozy pilot berth with padded bunk board, and a spacious V-berth forward. The head features a standard WC and vanity sink with double access from the V-berth area and forward cabin. Starboard stowage includes closets and drawers throughout. The centerline engine placement, a hallmark of Stephens design, offers nearly full access via an easily removed cover. Fresh water capacity is 35 gallons with two inspection ports, and fuel capacity is 25 gallons.
