1972 Cuda Craft Open fisherman

This 1972 Cuda Craft Open is a 22-foot fiberglass bay boat built during the early production run of approximately 75 examples. The original hull features hand-laid fiberglass construction with a 30 percent increase in material thickness throughout the hull and stringers, including the hollow main stringers that were pioneered for this model. The boat is powered by a 2015 Yamaha F200 outboard with roughly 160 hours of operation and is mounted on a 2002 float trailer fitted with new suspension, wheels, and tires as of 2023.

The boat underwent a comprehensive two-and-a-half-year restoration from 2014 to 2016. The original hollow stringers were re-glassed and reinforced, while the entire transom was rebuilt using foam-core construction and integrated with reinforcing bolsters. All wood has been removed from the structure. The deck and casting areas feature custom fiberglass foam-core sandwich construction with nonskid surfaces, and the chine areas received additional external reinforcements. Sealed foam was installed under the gunwales throughout to provide positive buoyancy in the event of swamping.

The restoration included a new 50-gallon fuel tank, new hydraulic steering with a stainless wheel, and completely new tinned wiring with dual batteries replaced in 2024. A custom-built Stainless Marine bracket incorporates an integrated ladder and transom underwater lighting. The console features a custom switch panel, Garmin radar and sonar with thru-hull transducer, VHF radio, and Fusion stereo. Additional systems include salt and freshwater washdown, a bait well pump, and Lenco tabs.

Accommodations comprise a custom-designed center console with clamshell seating from Nautica Boats, Prestige Interiors cushions throughout, a 15-gallon water tank, and a custom T-Top. Remote spotlight and front and rear spreader lights are installed. A full custom Sunbrella cover is included.
