This is a 1972 Herreshoff Rozinante, one of three yawls commissioned by L. Francis Herreshoff himself and built at O. Lie Nielsen Boatyard in Rockland, Maine. The design is documented in Herreshoff's "The Complete Cruiser" and represents the naval architect's thinking on what makes an able cruising boat. The wooden hull measures 28 feet long with a 6-foot-4-inch beam.
The varnished mahogany hull is in excellent condition and has been professionally maintained throughout. The interior accommodates a double berth and includes one head with a porta-pottie. The cockpit and deck fittings remain faithful to the original design, including traditional details such as a cedar bucket and 10-foot oar.
In 2020, the frames throughout the cockpit were replaced and the interior was rebuilt with modern berth arrangements. A 2020 Torqeedo electric pod drive with controls, components, and lithium batteries is included but not installed, offering an option for auxiliary propulsion without permanent modification to the boat.
