This 1973 Viking 40 Convertible is a fiberglass sportfish that combines proven design with extensive mechanical and structural work. Two Nanni Diesel engines producing 320 horsepower each deliver a cruising speed of 15.5 to 17 knots and a top speed of 22 knots, with fuel consumption of 18 to 19 gallons per hour total. The engines received major maintenance in April 2024, including new heat exchangers, after coolers, transmission coolers, filters, and impellers.
The boat accommodates two cabins with a main stateroom featuring a full bed and air conditioning, a V-berth forward for two with storage below, and one head with a stand-up shower and macerator toilet. The open salon seats five and includes a smart television. An updated galley has a Summit refrigerator and freezer, electric cooktop, ice maker, microwave, and coffeemaker. Current electronics comprise a Garmin GPS 8612xsv touch screen plotter, CHIRP transducer, and GMR Fantom 24 radar, all installed in April 2022.
The hull and deck have been comprehensively attended to, with a soda-blasted bottom, barrier coating, and fresh bottom paint applied in April 2024, plus new seacocks, portals, and deck hatches in March 2024. The flybridge canvas and Stratex glass were replaced in June 2023. A 10-kilowatt Kohler diesel generator supports three AGM batteries, forward and aft bilge pumps installed in July 2024, and dual air-conditioning units. Interior updates include new tinted and tempered slider windows with teak trim, new carpeting, fresh headliner from August 2024, and updated overhead lighting. A remanufactured windlass with 200 feet of colored aluminum chain was installed in September 2023.
