1974 Custom Luxury Expedition Yacht

Western Isles is a 1974 steel-hulled expedition yacht built by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries. At 159 feet with a 26-foot beam, she combines classic expedition design with substantial capability. Two Daihatsu diesel engines deliver 1,500 hp total, giving her a cruising speed of 9 knots and a maximum speed of 12 knots. Her 8,000-nautical-mile range and 100,000-liter fuel capacity support extended voyages, while her steel construction and robust build reflect her purpose as a world-cruising platform.

The deck spaces emphasize outdoor living and utility. An expansive sundeck features a hardtop, bar, jacuzzi, and generous lounge areas. Forward, a fully enclosed garage accommodates tender stowage, with additional tender storage aft. The bridge deck salon is an exceptional full-width space with integrated bar and direct access to a large aft dining terrace suitable for al fresco entertaining.

Below deck, accommodation spans seven en suite cabins for up to 14 guests. The main deck master suite runs full beam and includes a walk-in wardrobe and corner-bathed en suite. A second VIP cabin on the main deck offers comparable space, while five double en suite cabins occupy the lower deck. The layout is functionally sound and requires no structural alteration.

The main engine and generators were overhauled in 2019 and the yacht has since been maintained under Hong Kong survey. Her steel hull, proven expedition design, and substantial range make her a capable platform for continued long-distance cruising and exploration.
