1976 Downeast 38 Cutter

The 1976 Downeast 38 Cutter is a fiberglass sailing yacht built for serious cruising. She's rigged as a cutter with a self-tending jib boom and end boom sheeting, offering practical sail handling in all conditions. A single 32-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine provides auxiliary power, with a cruising speed of 7.2 knots.

Below deck, the yacht offers two cabins and one head, making her suitable for extended cruising or live-aboard use. The layout is functional and spacious enough to serve as a comfortable home on the water.

The boat has received substantial mechanical and systems investment in recent years. The standing rigging was renewed in 2001, the engine received full service in 2021, and a new refrigeration and hot water system was installed in 2023. The sails are from 2001 with minimal use. Navigation equipment includes a Garmin plotter and radar added in 2018. A recent haulout in 2024 included new bottom paint and survey work.
