The 1976 Islander Freeport is a fiberglass sailing yacht 41 feet in length with a 13-foot beam, built during an era when fewer than 100 hulls of this model were produced. The boat underwent extensive refit between 1996 and 2006, which included a hull shave and reglass, new cutlass bearing, replacement diesel engine, new water and fuel tanks, fresh flooring, and complete rewiring. The boat is known in cruising circles for its seaworthiness and solid construction.
Below deck, the boat offers a single cabin with one head. The galley is fitted with a two-burner Force 10 electric stove with heat shield, a single polished stainless steel sink with long stem faucet, a Kenmore microwave with pizza oven function, and a Krups coffee maker. The fresh water system comprises eight poly tanks of approximately 35 gallons each, served by Jabsco and West Marine pumps. A 10-gallon hot water tank provides 120 VAC heating.
The 2001 Yanmar diesel engine powers the boat, supported by a 2015 Fisher Panda mini generator with remote start and a 3kW Xantrex inverter. Solar power is provided by a photovoltaic panel with FlexCharge controller. The sanitation system includes a Dometic electric head connected to a 35-gallon holding tank with macerator pump for overboard discharge, while gray water from the shower and sinks flows to a separate 10-gallon holding tank. Two self-contained Marine Air reverse-cycle units provide air conditioning throughout the cabin.
Navigation and communication equipment is comprehensive: Raymarine VHF with DSC, Class B AIS transceiver, E80 multifunction radar display, 18-inch Raydome chart plotter interfaced with GPS, and ST80002 autopilot. The boat carries multiple ground tackle options including a 40-pound Delta anchor with chain and nylon rode, a Fortress plow anchor, and backup Danforth anchors. Steering is via a hydraulic Sea Star pedestal with a 22-inch wooden wheel.
