1977 Bertram 28 Moppie

A 1977 Bertram 28 express cruiser powered by a single Mercruiser 351 gasoline engine delivering 351 horsepower. Built from fiberglass, this boat cruises at 21 knots while burning 13.5 gallons per hour. The hull topside was painted with IMRON in 2013, and the bottom was refinished in 2021 with epoxy primer and antifouling paint.

The cabin accommodates a small crew with a v-berth, a dinette that converts to sleeping space for one adult or two children, and a head with holding tank. The galley features custom mahogany cabinetry with a sink and 12/110-volt refrigerator. Custom marine vinyl flooring was installed in the main salon and v-berth. A canvas enclosure with Strataglass windows and Sunbrella upholstery provides weather protection and comfort underway.

Electronics and systems have been substantially upgraded. Navigation and control include a SIMRAD NSS9 EVO multifunction display, NAC-2 autopilot computer, AP-44 autopilot controller, Precision-9 compass, and updated VHF radio with new antenna. A SIMRAD SonicHub 2 marine audio server is fitted. The electrical system was upgraded in 2019 with new DC wiring, circuit breaker panel, and a 3-bank battery charger; shore power was upgraded to 30 amps with a new AC panel. An automatic HFC fire suppression system was added to the engine room in 2017. Ground tackle consists of a windlass with 15-pound stainless steel plow anchor, chain, and rode.

The engine room reflects careful maintenance: the Mercruiser 351 short block was replaced in 2012 with 561 engine hours recorded. Trim tab actuators were upgraded to electric in 2014. A freshwater tank was installed in 2016, and LED running lights were fitted. The swim platform is custom mahogany, matching interior cabinetry finishes throughout.
