This 1977 Ericson 31C is a fiberglass sloop built for bluewater cruising. At 31 feet with a 10.4-foot beam and five-foot draft, she has a stern-hung rudder and masthead rig. A single 20-horsepower Bukh diesel engine provides auxiliary power. The deck-stepped mast sits on a solid mahogany compression post, keeping weight low and structural integrity intact.
The cabin is finished throughout in mahogany. The layout sleeps four but suits a cruising couple or solo sailor well. There is one head. The boat handles well across a range of conditions, pointing high to wind and carrying a following sea smoothly thanks to her rounded, wine-glass stern.
The topsides received a professional repaint in Awlgrip Lauderdale Blue approximately five years ago. Around the same time, the bottom was sanded to bare gelcoat, all blisters were repaired and faired, and the hull received three coats of epoxy barrier coat followed by one coat of hard bottom paint and two coats of BioCop antifouling paint.
