1977 Hunter 27

This 1977 Hunter 27 is a fiberglass sloop built for comfortable cruising on the Great Lakes. The hull draws 3 feet 3 inches, allowing access to all Lake Erie ports even during low water. Power comes from a 10-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine paired with a high-efficiency three-bladed propeller, delivering a cruising speed of 5 knots and a range of roughly 240 nautical miles on 12 gallons of fuel.

The sail plan consists of a loose-footed main with two reef points, a furling 110 genoa, and a furling 130 genoa. Running rigging was replaced four years ago, and both main and spinnaker halyards are served from the cockpit. A tiller provides direct feedback from the rudder and swings up clear of the working area. The boat carries a bow-mounted Bruce anchor with 130 feet of chain and rode, plus a second Danforth anchor with 100 feet of rode.

Below deck, five berths accommodate extended cruising: two in the V-berth forward, two in the main cabin, and one quarter berth. A 40-gallon water tank supplies hand-pumped sinks in the head and galley. The galley features a two-burner alcohol stove and ice box. An odor-free porta-potty serves as the head. When connected to shore power, the boat runs 110-volt lighting, outlets, and a microwave oven. A Bimini top covers the cockpit, with a custom canvas extension providing additional shade and weather protection forward to the mast. A Sevylor inflatable dinghy with 12-volt electric motor is included, along with a Garmin handheld color GPS.

The mast step was rebuilt and the keel was rebedded at local boatyards during prior ownership. All rigging and sails have been upgraded through annual winter projects.
