This 1977 Scarborough 27 center console is Ricky Scarborough hull #2, the first of his builds fitted with a diesel engine. The fiberglass hull was completely refitted in 2008 by Donnie Caison. Recent work includes new fuel injectors, exhaust elbow, raw water pump, intake pipe, steering system, fuel tank, shaft seal, running light, belt, and tensioner. The heat exchanger and gear cooler were serviced in late 2024. A professional detail was completed in early 2025.
Power comes from a single 220 hp Cummins 6BT diesel engine with approximately 5,100 hours of operation, delivering a cruising speed of 21 knots and a maximum speed of 26 knots. The boat measures 27 feet in length with a 9.5-foot beam and features a wood-core hull glassed over for durability.
The helm is centered with a molded fiberglass console fitted with an acrylic windscreen. Navigation and electronics include a Simrad NSS9 Evo3 chartplotter, Simrad autopilot, dual ICOM IC-M412 VHF radios, and a Fusion MS-RA55 stereo with amplifier and two speakers. Control systems include a Morse lever, Bennett Marine trim tabs, and a Cummins instrument panel. Power management consists of dual 12-volt batteries with a selector switch, automatic bilge pumps, and a 30-amp charger.
The boat carries a custom aluminum T-top with vinyl canopy and includes a leaning post with a 50-gallon livewell and removable backrest. Rod storage comprises five rocket launchers on the T-top, ten flush-mounted holders on the gunwales, and two each on the transom and leaning post. Additional features include mahogany toe rails with stainless steel rub strips, outriggers, side and front engine room access doors, and side access to the engine compartment.
