1977 Tartan 37

This 1977 Tartan 37 is a fiberglass sailing yacht built to the classic Sparkman & Stephens design principles of the era. The boat features moderate freeboard, a straight raked stem with gentle sheer, and a long, low-aspect-ratio fin keel paired with a high-aspect rudder faired into a substantial skeg. The proportions are balanced and functional, offering both cruising comfort and racing capability in a 37-foot package with an 11.75-foot beam.

The interior accommodates a small family or couple with a V-berth outfitted with a new Nectar mattress, replaced cushions throughout, and refurbished cabin headliner insulation. Amenities include a 16,000 BTU marine air conditioning system, warm LED lighting, high-speed interior fans, stainless steel cowl vents with no-see-um screens, USB and USB-C charging outlets, and a Nature's Head composting toilet.

Recent refits have addressed the boat's systems and structure comprehensively. The standing rigging was replaced in 2020 with Stalock terminals and new turnbuckles. Soft deck spots were recored with structural foam, with backing plates replaced and rebedded. The hull received new through-hulls and Forespar seacocks, fresh hoses, a high-water alarm, and bilge pump. The centerboard was fully rebuilt with new hardware and line, and the rudder was completely rebuilt with new glass, foam, and paint. A complete bottom job includes six coats of Petit Barrier paint and multiple layers of Petit Trinidad hard antifouling.

The boat is equipped for serious cruising with a MUIR windlass installed in 2021, Mantus anchor with 200 feet of chain and 200 feet of rode, and a complete B&G navigation system including Vulcan chartplotter, two Triton displays, and combined depth and speed transducers. Additional equipment includes a Raymarine autopilot, Blue Sky solar panels with inverter and charge controller, AGM battery bank, Schaefer roller furler, new bimini and dodger canvas, dinghy davits, and marine and handheld radios. The diesel engine has been serviced with rebuilt injectors and pump, new shaft, cutless bearing, and dripless seal.
