The Aphrodite 101 is a 32.5-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in Germany and originally brought to Seattle in the late 1970s as part of a one-design fleet. The class is recognized for its sleek hull, tall rig, and thoughtfully positioned winch layout that facilitate single-handed sailing. A Yanmar 1GM10 diesel engine powers the boat, paired with a folding propeller for efficient cruising under power.
The yacht underwent a comprehensive refit in 2005. The bottom was stripped and re-glassed using vinylester resin and epoxy barrier coat, then finished with Petit Vivid bottom paint. Topsides and non-skid were refinished with Awl Grip "Greystone," while the hull received Awl Grip "Sky Blue." All through-hull fittings were replaced with ball valves, new teak cockpit seats were fitted, and the engine and propeller were both renewed at that time.
The boat was hauled out in August 2023 for bottom maintenance, including fresh bottom paint and new anodes. The hull and topsides remain in maintained condition following the earlier comprehensive refresh.
