The Islander 36 is a proven design with nearly 800 built, celebrated for its balance of sailing performance, comfort, and durability. This fiberglass hull measures 36 feet in length with an 11-foot 6-inch beam and is powered by a 35-horsepower Perkins diesel. The boat carries an aluminum keel-stepped mast with double spreaders, 1x19 stainless steel shrouds, and an aluminum boom. Recent upgrades include a refinished mast, standing rigging, a newer main sail, and roller furling jib. She cruises at 4 knots and reaches 6 knots at full speed.
The cabin layout offers 6 feet 4 inches of headroom throughout. Forward is a V-berth with insert. The head sits to port with a hanging locker opposite. The main saloon features settees on both sides and a folding centerline dinette. A navigation station to port includes a large quarter berth, while the galley sits opposite to starboard with a deep stainless steel sink, pressure water system, large icebox, and a three-burner gas stove with oven.
Deck systems include a #20 Bruce anchor on the bow roller with chain and line rode, two Barient #27 self-tailing winches, two #32 self-tailing winches, and two #21 winches. The electrical system runs both 110V AC and 12V DC with 30-amp shore power service. The boat was last hauled and bottom painted in June 2018 with quarterly dive service noted. Interior cushions have been recently refinished.
