This 1978 Islander 36 is a fiberglass sloop with a solid reputation for cruising comfort and sea-keeping ability. At 36 feet long with an 11.5-foot beam, she offers good space and stability. The boat is powered by a Yanmar 3GM30 diesel engine producing 30 horsepower, with recorded engine hours at 330. She cruises comfortably at 6 knots and reaches a maximum speed of 8 knots.
The interior comprises two cabins and one head, laid out for practical cruising. Forward is a V-berth; aft sits a quarter berth. The main saloon features port and starboard settees, with the port settee converting to a double berth and the starboard settee to bunks. The sole is custom teak and holly, complemented by a custom folding teak table. The head includes a shower. The galley is fitted with a Hillerange 2-burner propane stove and oven, an icebox refrigerator, and hot and cold pressure water with a stainless steel sink.
The sail plan is extensive and well-maintained. Five Hood sails are included: a Genoa, 125% jib, fully battened mainsail, storm jib, and spinnaker with pole. All sails are approximately 15 years old and in above-average condition. Roller furling headsail, Barient self-tailing primary winches, and multiple coach roof winches support efficient sail handling. The running rigging shows wear and would benefit from replacement. Navigation equipment includes a Horizon depth sounder, speed/log meter, and VHF radio, along with a Ritchie compass at the helm.
The hull has been cleaned regularly at least three times yearly and received a recent haul-out and power wash. Zincs are replaced routinely. A bottom job is recommended, as it has been over three years since the last one.
