1978 Moody 33 MkI

The Moody 33 MkI is a 33-foot fiberglass masthead sloop designed by Angus Primrose and built by A. H. Moody & Sons. This three-cabin boat sleeps six in the main accommodation and one in the salon, with a single head featuring a composting toilet. The cockpit is fully enclosed with cushions, and the boat carries a main sail with one deep reef in fair condition, a 150 North Sails Genoa in excellent condition, and a symmetrical spinnaker in good to fair condition.

Power comes from a Thornycroft T90 diesel engine reported to run well, with numerous spare parts on hand. The boat is equipped with a complete 2013 Garmin navigation system including chart plotter, radar, and AIS transceiver, alongside VHF radio. Water capacity totals 58 gallons across the main tank and quarter berth storage. Ground tackle includes a Rocna 15 anchor, windlass, 180 feet of chain, and 200 feet of rode.

Electrical systems comprise a Freedom 1800-watt inverter with 110-volt distribution throughout, supplemented by 690 watts of solar panels on a stern arch. Refrigeration includes a large Dometic freezer and separate refrigerator with additional cooler capacity. A 7.5-foot Mercury inflatable dinghy with 3.3-horsepower Mercury outboard is included and ready for use. The boat also has dinghy davits, wash-down pump, and bosun's chair.

The boat has been actively cruised in the Pacific Northwest, spending 4-5 months per year at anchor over a nine-year period. Areas requiring attention include bottom paint renewal, autopilot repair requiring a new Garmin drive unit, non-functioning anchor and navigation lights, and aft cabin cushion recovery.
