Fia is a 1978 Oyster 39 Heritage centre cockpit ketch, designed by Holman & Pye for offshore cruising. The ketch rig offers flexible sail handling suited to short-handed sailing and extended passages, with a removable inner forestay for heavy weather configurations. A Perkins 4.236 diesel engine provides auxiliary power. The boat sits on teak decks that were replaced from original and remain in serviceable condition.
The interior layout comprises two cabins and two heads, with a spacious aft owner's cabin, forward guest cabin, and convertible saloon berth—a configuration that works well for couples, families, or visiting crew. The centre cockpit provides strong visibility underway and serves as a comfortable outdoor space at anchor or in harbour.
Recent upgrades centre on cruising autonomy and reliability: a 750W solar array, Victron Multiplus charger and inverter system, and a Schenker Zen water maker were installed between 2023 and 2024. The sanitation systems have been upgraded, and preventative epoxy hull treatment was completed in 2025. The boat carries substantial storage, large refrigeration and freezer capacity, an electric windlass with wireless remote, and new sail bags. A Highfield Ultralite tender with Tohatsu 9.8hp outboard is included.
