1978 SeaCraft SC 23 Classic

This 1978 SeaCraft SC 23 is a Potter-built classic, designed with a variable-deadrise, longitudinally stepped hull that combines high freeboard with substantial fiberglass construction. The hull's reputation for handling heavy seas while staying dry at the helm has made Potter-built SeaCrafts sought-after by serious boaters for decades. The boat sits low and stable in the water, with the kind of build quality that restoration yards will assess over the phone based on the maker's name alone.

Power comes from a 2022 Yamaha F250XB four-stroke outboard with 184 hours on it, mounted on an Armstrong bracket with a stainless steel propeller, power trim and tilt, and whale tail. The engine was purchased new by the previous owner in August 2022. The hull received its first bottom paint in 2025 with a full barrier coat in Vivid finish, preparing it for immediate use.

The boat is outfitted for fishing and diving in earnest. A Garmin GPSMAP 7607XSV serves as GPS, fishfinder, and chartplotter; radar dome, VHF, and compass round out navigation. Fishing Boats Unlimited tower, rod holders, rocket launchers, and rod storage are in place. A fiberglass recirculating bait tank, Lewmar windlass with claw anchor and rode, large midships dive bottle storage with tank racks, and built-in cooler support serious trips. Below, a V-berth cuddy cabin sleeps two with updated cushions throughout.

The boat carries a full suite of systems: trim tabs, bilge pump, four batteries with charger and switch, circuit breaker panel, and Yamaha digital gauges.
