1979 Formosa 51

This 1979 Formosa 51 is a William Garden design built by the renowned Formosa yard in Taiwan. The fiberglass hull carries a full keel and balanced ketch rig, with a distinctive clipper bow and sweeping sheerline. The yacht measures 51 feet in length with a 14-foot beam and is powered by a Ford Lehman diesel engine of 120 horsepower.

The interior accommodates four cabins and two heads. The master stateroom is aft, with an open salon, practical galley, and solid teak and mahogany joinery throughout. Recent work includes new bottom paint, new hull paint, new plumbing, new electrical systems, new rigging lines, a new steering hydraulic pump, new helm seating, new four-burner gas stove, stainless steel countertops and hand rails, and a custom mattress in the master cabin. The master bedroom has been extended. An autopilot has been installed but requires calibration.

The yacht is in good overall condition. Items noted for future attention include replacement of the genoa furling system, updating existing electronics, and installation of an electrical windlass. She carries generous fuel and water tankage suited to extended cruising passages.
