This 1979 Spencer Yachts 53-foot masthead sloop is a fiberglass cruising yacht with a 55-foot extended design that includes a swim platform and boarding extension. Built in British Columbia to a John Brandelmayr design, the hull sits on a lead keel with 2.45 metres of draft and displaces 28 tonnes. Power comes from a 1976 Perkins M90 diesel engine producing 85 horsepower, coupled with a Borg Warner Velvet Drive transmission and three-blade feathering propeller. A Northern Lights 5kVa generator provides additional electrical capacity.
The yacht accommodates six berths across a well-appointed interior finished in teak. The owner's stateroom aft features a private salon with nav station, settee, and desk alongside an ensuite. A spacious V-berth forward includes a full head and shower. Amidships sits a single berth adjacent to the engine room, now fitted as a workshop. The main salon is generous with a custom table wrapping around the mast, while the galley to port houses a four-burner Force 10 stove with oven, microwave, and two fridge-freezers. Full headroom throughout measures 1.9 metres.
The boat carries extensive cruising equipment reflecting years of offshore use. Standing rigging was renewed in 2018 with inspection completed in March 2024. The hull underwent barrier-coat treatment around 2016, and all portlights were replaced within the last seven years. New batteries (both start and house) were installed in January 2025. The engine received service in the same month. Deck gear includes electric halyard winches enabling single-handed sailing from the enclosed cockpit, along with self-tailing primary winches and an anchor windlass. Navigation systems comprise Raymarine chartplotter and instruments, Furuno autopilot, and GPS units. An inflatable tender with outboard motor, comprehensive safety gear including liferaft and offshore flare kit, and a full sail inventory complete the package.
