The Trismus 37 is a custom-designed offshore cruising yacht built for sailors seeking both ocean-crossing capability and the ability to access shallow waters. Its distinctive shallow keel carries lead ballast at the lowest point, while fuel and water tanks are integrated within the keel structure itself. A traditional kick-up centerboard complements this design, delivering strong stability in open water while permitting exploration of shallow anchorages and bays otherwise inaccessible to deep-draft boats. The cutter rig provides excellent sail balance options for heavy-weather sailing.
The fiberglass hull features a balsa sandwich core and measures 37 feet in length with an 11.5-foot beam. Draft is 3.5 feet with the centerboard raised and 6.5 feet when deployed. The interior includes excellent storage for extended provisioning, a galley with a Dickson diesel stove, deep double sink, and counter space, plus an enclosed head with marine toilet and sink. Deck equipment includes a heavy-duty manual anchor windlass with 120 feet of chain and 180 feet of nylon rode, a stern anchor deployable from the cockpit, and tiller steering with autopilot capability.
The boat is powered by a 1975 Volvo Penta MD2B inboard diesel producing 24 horsepower, currently non-operational. The engine bay offers excellent structural clearance for straightforward removal and replacement. Sails include a mainsail with three-point slab reefing in useable condition, a furling genoa, and a furling staysail. The original standing rigging remains in place. Recent work includes a new starting battery installed in 2026 and hull resurfacing following bottom paint removal in 2016. New portlights are ready for installation.
This boat requires an experienced sailor or boatyard professional. The engine needs rebuild or replacement, standing rigging should be addressed, and bottom paint is due. The accessible engine bay makes it an excellent candidate for repowering with a modern lightweight diesel or conversion to electric drive.
