1980 Ocean Alexander Flush Deck Trawler

"Grilled Cheese" is a 55-foot Ocean Alexander flush-deck trawler built in 1980 and powered by two Detroit diesel engines producing 600 horsepower. The boat cruises at 9 knots and reaches 12 knots at full throttle, with a fuel capacity of 1,200 gallons supporting extended voyages. The fiberglass hull features a sharp bow entry and flared design that cuts through water cleanly, paired with wide covered side decks that shield windows and make line handling straightforward.

The interior accommodates seven in three staterooms and includes three heads. The master suite spans the full beam aft with a private head, stall shower, and abundant storage in teak cabinetry. A midship VIP stateroom with island queen bed and private head sits opposite a forward cabin with three single berths. A dedicated laundry room with washer, dryer, and counter completes the layout. The midship galley features a French Prestige gas convection range, Italian Ventrifigo refrigerator and freezer, Fotile dishwasher, U-line ice maker, and extended counter space. A chest freezer and secondary beverage fridge provide additional storage.

The flush-deck design places the helm at full elevation with 360-degree sightlines, superior to traditional pilothouse layouts. A full-standing engine room keeps systems organized for straightforward maintenance. Bow and stern thrusters are remote-controlled from the helm or handheld unit. Navigation includes Simrad autopilot, Garmin electronics, and Mathers electronic engine controls. A new 800-amp-hour lithium battery bank pairs with a new 3-kilowatt Xantrex inverter and a low-hour Northern Lights 12-kilowatt genset. Heating comes from a Webasto hydronic system, with a new 20-gallon water heater installed.
