1980 Van Rossum Kotter 1500

This steel yacht was custom-built by Van Rossum Shipyard in the Netherlands in 1980 and reflects the design of the yard's owner. At nearly 49 feet overall with a 14-foot beam, she combines seaworthiness for coastal cruising with the comfort of a live-aboard home. A single Mercedes diesel engine rated at 215 horsepower provides a cruising speed of 8 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots.

Below deck, the interior is finished largely in teak and retains much of its original character. The layout includes three cabins—an owner's cabin with double bed and two guest cabins—along with six heads and a fully tiled bathroom with bathtub. A compact galley contains a gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer that run on gas or shore power. The dining area seats at least five, and a bright saloon adjoins the helm station. Large freshwater and holding tanks of 2,500 and 1,500 liters respectively support extended cruising.

Onboard systems include a hydronic heating setup with an oil-fired boiler installed in 2007, 220V shore power with inverter and generator options, and dual 12V/24V electrical systems. Navigation and safety equipment features radar, autopilot, VHF radio, echo sounder, and a bow thruster. Additional equipment includes a 5.5-kilowatt generator, 75-amp battery charger, and a mast with steadying sail.

The hull was recently surveyed, hauled, and repainted with new anodes installed. An ultrasound inspection of the hull confirmed good overall condition. Cushions have been recently reupholstered. An inflatable dinghy with 4 horsepower outboard motor is included.
