This 1981 Cheoy Lee Golden Wave 42 is a Robert Perry-designed offshore cruising yacht built for serious blue-water sailing and long-term voyaging. The 43-foot fiberglass hull is powered by a 50 hp Perkins 4.108 diesel engine with 2,500 hours on a rebuild, delivering a cruising speed of 6 knots. The yacht carries a full cutter rig with removable inner forestay and running backstays, supported by nine winches and a complete inventory of heavy cruising sails including a fully battened mainsail, Yankee-cut jib, staysail, trysail, and asymmetrical spinnaker.
Accommodations include two cabins and one head with a separate shower, finished throughout with teak and holly sole and Burmese teak woodwork. The interior is dry and well-ventilated, with reverse-cycle air conditioning, diesel heating, and electric heating options. The galley features a Force 10 two-burner stove and oven with both fresh and raw-water options, while a recently rebuilt refrigerator and freezer support extended cruising.
The yacht has undergone extensive recent updates. New 2023–2025 Garmin electronics include a 943xsv chartplotter with integrated autopilot, as well as redundant Furuno NavNet 3D radar and additional systems for navigation and communication. Power comes from 668 watts of solar panels feeding a 400 Ah lithium house bank, supplemented by a 275 A Balmar generator and upgraded 100 A alternator. The boat carries a complete array of safety equipment including a four-person liferaft serviced in 2024 and an Ocean Signal EPIRB2. Other recent work includes new rigging and chainplates, a factory-rebuilt Navtec hydraulic backstay adjuster, new bottom paint, a reconditioned MaxProp, and a new dripless shaft seal. An 8.5-foot Caribe RIB dinghy with 9.8 hp outboard and davit system is included.
