1981 Edey & Duff Doughdish

This 1981 Edey & Duff Doughdish is a fiberglass interpretation of Nathanael Herreshoff's iconic 1914 design. Built with foam sandwich construction and teak trim, the boat maintains the exact dimensions, weight, and balance of the original wooden Herreshoff 12½ sloops, allowing it to compete directly in one-design class racing. At 16 feet overall with a full keel and gaff rig, the boat displaces 1,500 pounds with 735 pounds of ballast.

The boat is equipped with a suite of recent sails including 2021 Quantum main and jib, plus a spinnaker pole and swivel cam cleats for racing. A 2022 Triad float-on trailer is included, enabling launching from standard boat ramps without requiring a boatyard or hoist. Canvas covers for the cockpit and jib, along with an oversized winter tarp, provide weather protection. Storage cradles for the mast and boom and a set of oars complete the inventory.

Recent maintenance includes new brightwork completed by Concordia Company. The boat is ready to sail and compete in the active H Class racing circuit.
