1981 Kelly Peterson 46

This Kelly-Peterson 46 Center Cockpit Cutter is a classic blue-water cruising design from naval architect Doug Peterson, built by Queen Long Marine under Jack Kelly's supervision. The fiberglass hull features an encapsulated lead fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, with a balanced cutter rig suited to ocean passages. A Ford Lehman 80 hp diesel engine provides auxiliary power, with cruising speeds around 5 knots and a maximum of 7 knots. The deep, centralized cockpit is designed for helm security and shorthanded operation.

The boat accommodates eight with three double berths—V-berth forward, aft cabin, and dinette—plus two single berths in the salon settee and breezeway. Two heads serve the accommodation spaces. A full shower stall and cabin amenities include a Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater with hot water circulation and a 120VAC water heater installed in 2017. Stainless steel fuel and water tanks provide storage.

Navigation and communication systems include B&G instruments, a CPT autopilot fitted in 2016, AIS Class A transceiver and EPIRB both installed in 2021, and Icom VHF and HF radios. Electrical systems feature a Magnum Energy inverter and battery charger from 2020. The boat is equipped with solar, wind, and towing generation systems, dinghy davits and outboard crane, both added in 2021. The cutlass bearing was replaced in 2022. Bottom paint was last applied in August 2025.
