1981 Nonsuch 26 Classic
About This Yacht
The 1981 Nonsuch 26 Classic is a fiberglass catboat built around the design principles that made the model legendary: an unstayed cat rig that is safe, simple, and powerful, combined with generous interior volume for a boat of her size. Finished in blue with a red boot stripe, she carries a 13 hp Westebeke diesel engine and reaches a maximum speed of 6.6 knots. Recent upgrades include a new power winch for the main halyard and an electric windlass with controls at both the bow and cockpit.
Below deck, the Nonsuch delivers comfortable accommodation for cruising and weekend getaways. The interior features a two-burner propane stove with an integrated propane sensor, hot and cold pressurized water, an enclosed head with a marine toilet, and practical storage throughout. Shore power provides AC and DC electrical systems for extended stays.
Her deck is well-equipped for cruising. Barient winches (18, 17, and 8) handle the sail plan, while dual anchor rollers support dual ground tackle: both Bruce and Danforth anchors with 35 feet of chain and 150 feet of primary rode, plus additional rode for the second anchor. A manual bilge pump provides backup. The rig and systems speak to thoughtful maintenance and upgrades aimed at making short-handed sailing manageable without compromise.
