1982 Dehler db1
About This Yacht
Red Rhum is a Dehler DB1, a competitive 3/4-ton racing sailboat built in 1982 from fiberglass. At just over 32 feet long with a beam of 11 feet, she combines the performance characteristics of a dedicated racer with practical offshore capability. The boat has been actively raced in the Cruisers 2 fleet and at national and regional events, reflecting a design purpose-built for serious sailing.
The boat carries modern racing equipment throughout. A Mills IRC keel fitted in 2016 pairs with a 2003 Corby carbon rudder. The mast—a Z Spars swept spreader design from 2006—flies a mast-head spinnaker, over-length spinnaker pole, and carbon bow sprit, with non-overlapping jibs. Instrumentation includes a Nexus NX2 system with three mast-mounted displays showing log and depth, wind, compass, and GPS data.
Below deck, the accommodation includes one head. A Nanni 3.75HE diesel engine with shaft drive provides auxiliary power. The boat rides on a fin keel with a maximum draft of 1.97 meters. Cushions were replaced in 2023. The boat is supplied with a cradle for storage and transport.
