This 1982 Hatteras 56 Wide Body is a three-stateroom, three-head motor yacht built around the pioneering super wide double chine hull design that defined subsequent Hatteras models. The open wheelhouse connects to the salon with near 360-degree visibility from the helm, while the galley-down layout provides living spaces comparable to larger yachts. A spacious semi-enclosed aft deck serves as an entertaining area, and the extended swim platform with toy box stretches the overall length to 63 feet.
Twin Detroit Diesel 8V92TA engines in separate engine rooms deliver 1,300 horsepower and power the yacht to 18 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed of 15 to 16 knots. The twin-engine configuration provides excellent service access in each compartment. A custom Vetrus bimini spanning 12 to 20 feet shades the flybridge, while Garmin electronics and autopilots are installed at both lower and upper helms.
Recent improvements include a fresh bottom job completed in July 2025 and a new raw water pump for the air conditioning system installed in October 2025. Four new Rule 2000 32-volt bilge pumps with float switches were added in August 2025. The yacht is equipped with two Northern Lights generators—20-kilowatt and 12-kilowatt models—and aft deck engine controls for convenient operation.
Some systems require attention: two of five reverse-cycle air conditioning units, the Naiad fin stabilizers, Vetus bow thruster, inverter and charger, Village Marine water maker, washer dryer, bow cabin head connection, and the tender davit currently need repair or service.
